Matic Woman

Ghanaian hiphop artiste, Trigmatic, known in real life as Nana Yaw Oduro, says he has started a campaign to empower more women to stand up and reach greater heights.

The campaign dubbed the Matic Woman is an idea created around women, women empowerment and gender balance issues.

“We are creating an image for women called the Matic Woman and that’s because there are a lot of women who like my music… Actually last year, I was part of the volunteers for the UN, UN Ambassador for the MDGs. We are helping achieve the set goals for 2015,” he said.

He further indicated that, “This is the topic we picked and we are trying to create a brand like that. Already I have recorded a song which talks about female empowerment and discrimination…because we need more women to do stuffs, we need more women in parliament, we need more women owing themselves.”

He began the Trig High School last year with the sole aim of inspiring Senior High School students in selected schools to aspire to high heights in life and to discover themselves.

He disclosed that during this High School tours, he uses the opportunity to talk to the women about the Matic Women and also make them aware of who they are and make them discover themselves.

The tour, he said, has been to six schools so far and he plans another on the 29th of January.

To help the campaign, Trig as he is sometimes called, revealed tha, he will release a song and a music video for the campaign, as well as T-Shirts for branding the Matic Woman.

He was hoping that the UN and other charitable organizations will come on board in helping to create the Matic Woman.
