Mash-ups, ya’ll – they’re the new black! On the heels of the trailer for Jon Favreau’s highly-anticipated "Cowboys & Aliens" comes news of yet another head-to-head Hollywood battle: "Zombies vs. Robots!"
Action master Michael Bay is attached to produce, and the script is based on the comic of the same name, created by Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall. Word is that the plot focuses on the last human on earth – a little girl – who is protected from evolved and ruthless zombies by a group of robots. Sounds a bit like “I Am Legend” to us — maybe Bay will nab Willow Smith for the lead role?
There’s sure to be more news on this budding project as it progresses, but let’s get straight to the point: with "Cowboys & Aliens" and "Zombies vs. Robots" in the can — not to mention the even more ridiculously titled "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus" — how many other zany mash-ups is Hollywood going to churn out? We figured we’d venture five guesses — or suggestions, really. Michael: call us!
Birthday Party Clowns vs. Toddlers
This one’s for all the folks who’ve acquired a phobia thanks to those creepy childhood entertainers. Try to juggle your way out of a group of ornery kids hopped up on Pixy Stix, funny men!
Comic Book Heroines vs. Disney Princesses
Our money’s on Ramona Flowers, Catwoman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the gang effortlessly steamrolling Belle, Cinderella, Ariel and their posse – but who knows? Maybe the crowned royals could sing their way out of a tricky situation with an epic dance number!
"Star Wars" vs. "Star Trek"
This one would make fan universes implode like the Death Star, but who would win toy licensing rights? George Lucas vs. J.J. Abrams: an epic sub-battle unto itself!
Test Monkeys vs. Lab Scientists
We always had a soft spot for that poor little dude in “Outbreak.” And, yeah, maybe we’ve watched late-night reruns of “Planet of the Apes” a few too many times – but seriously, now monkeys enacting revenge on mean syringe-wielding dudes in white coats. The kids’ll love it!
Super Computer Vs. Super Nerd Game Show Contestant
Wait, what? This already happened IRL? Perfect! The script’s practically written!
Tell us some of the other zany Hollywood mashups you'd like to see in the comments section.
