M. Night Shyamalan will direct the father–son acting duo.
After last starring onscreen together in 2006’s The Pursuit of Happyness, father and son box-office stars Will and Jaden Smith will take their big-screen magic into outer space.
Deadline.com is reporting that the pair has just signed with Sony Pictures to star in an untitled futuristic science fiction movie that will be directed by M. Night Shyamalan. And it’s a family affair behind the scenes as well. Jada Pinkett Smith (representing Will’s production company Overbrook Entertainment) will be producing along with Shyamalan.
Originally Smith was only supposed to be producing this project, when it had the working title One Thousand A.E. But the fact that the Men In Black star is also headlining the film could bode extremely well in the box office department for Shyamalan.
The director’s last hit movie was 1999’s The Sixth Sense. Hopefully, the Smiths will change all of that.
